Care Instructions: 

Light: These plants need full sun, but it will tolerate some shade. Placing these plants by an East or North facing window would be ideal, however, extreme heat & cold will burn them. 

Water: Be careful of overwatering, as these plants do not like soggy soil. Water only when the top 3 inches are dry. 

Temperature/Humidity: These mini trees require good air circulation, and colder temperatures. They do best in low-humidity environments. Ideal temperatures are between 10-21C. 

Fertilizer/Soil/Pot: For young plants, fertilize once a year using a granular fertilizer. For soil, use a well-draining slightly acidic soil. These plants work well with regular potting soil with added peat moss. Repot every 2-4 years. 

Pruning: Not necessary, since it grows very slowly (about 2-4 inches per year) & rarely exceeds 13 feet (mature). Damaged branches should be removed as necessary. Pruning can be done in late winter or early spring when new growth appears. Cut no more than 2-3 inches off the tips of branches. 

Transplanting: Can be moved outdoors in early spring when the frost has passed. Needs to be acclimited gradually (exposing the plant to shade before full sun). Can be kept in a pot (a pot helps bind the root system, which will make it grow slower & shorter), or planted in the ground. If this plant is kept outdoors during the winter season, it will need to be protected in order to survive as harsh winds & extreme cold can kill the plant (move plant to a sheltered area away from harsh winds).
